I've written 11 non-fiction children’s books (with 7 published), including "How To Be An Astronaut and Other Space Jobs" and "Can You Get Rainbows in Space?" and I'm currently writing a few more. My most recent book, "Can You Get Jellyfish in Space?", was selected and written specially as a World Book Day 2024 book.

I’ve worked in the space industry for over 15 years, during which I have dabbled in various things, from planetary physicist, science presenter, secondary school physics teacher and space comedian! I've had various space adventures such as Space School UK, Space Camp NASA and a space camp in Russia, and I did my undergraduate MPhys (Hons) at the University of Manchester. I've worked at Jodrell Bank in Cheshire and at the ATNF in Australia researching exoplanets and pulsars, then did a PhD at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory using Cassini data to learn more about Saturn, its rings and its moons. I followed the science communication path when I trained as a secondary school science teacher and taught science and physics for two years. From 2014 until 2024 I worked at the Royal Astronomical Society, covering education, outreach and diversity.

I teach GCSE Astronomy, provide consultancy and training in space education, write grant proposals and help people spend large sums of money on space outreach (ask me about RAS200!). I can give keynote lectures, speeches and science shows in schools and theatres, I have appeared regularly on TV and radio, and I love to use space as a hook to inspire people from all walks of life to pursue STEM careers.

In my spare time I'm a proud mum-of-boys and cat (and husband!) owner, a STEM ambassador who enjoys travelling and eating, I do pole fitness and hockey, I play the saxophone and piano, I love punch needling and walking on the beach, and watching TV shows from the 1990s! I was awarded an MBE in 2022 for my service to astronomy and diversity in physics.
